Wool from the Collection Centres is brought in trucks to this facility. After taking out from the sacks, the wool is spread over the moving conveyors for manual sorting. During this procedure, wool of other colours and wool with burrs is manually removed.
From the conveyors the wool travels to the Wool Opener where it is opened by spiked high speed rollers to remove mud and vegetable matter. From here the wool is fed into the six rollers Step Cleaner which further removes all kinds of suspended particles and dust.
Once the sorting cleaning and opening process is completed, the wool is sent to the scouring plant for washing. In the 5-tank scouring plant, wool is thoroughly hot washed to remove grease, and vegetable matter. Thereafter the wool is dried in the hot air dryer.
After drying, the wool is passed through a de-duster machine to remove any dust or suspended particles. Finally, the clean wool is sent to the packing section for pressing into bales.
The bales are then stored in the finished goods warehouse for shipment to customers.
